This is a battle between a hot playoff team and Division IX’s top-seeded team. Western, the Orange League runner-up, has defeated its playoff opponents, Sunny Hills and Pacifica, by a combined 67-51. Pioneer tailback Trevell Jackson has run wild, gaining 454 yards and scoring five touchdowns in the two games. La Mirada, which lost last year’s Division VIII final to Laguna Hills, has been pushed by only Lakewood Mayfair this season. The Matadors won, 21-18. La Mirada, which has been led by junior tailback Mike Lemon, has won its games by an average of 33 points.
