SEASON AT A GLANCE: The 5-foot-4 guard has helped the Conquistadores to a 9-3 start and shouldered the scoring load with All-City senior guard Cara Blumfield. Aguinaga is averaging 14.3 points.
WEEK AT A GLANCE: After averaging fewer than than eight points in the first six games, Aguinaga exploded for 87 in four Simi Valley tournament games. On Saturday, she scored 25 points in a first-round game of the Bell-Jeff tournament, then scored 28 against Canyon in the fifth-place game at Simi Valley.

SCHOOL: Santa Clara
YEAR: Senior.
SPORT: Basketball
SEASON AT A GLANCE: Bound for UC Santa Barbara, the 6-foot-1 point guard has led the Saints to a 10-1 record and The Times’ No. 2 ranking in the region. Ward teams with 6-4 Nick Jones in the backcourt to help the Saints overcome a lack of size. Santa Clara’s only loss came to top-ranked Simi Valley.
WEEK AT A GLANCE: Ward scored 20 points to help Santa Clara defeat Ventura, 68-61, in the championship game of the Ventura tournament. He made seven of eight free throws in the fourth quarter.
