Tipsy Drivers Can Get Free Ride Home

The Automobile Club of Southern California will offer New Year’s Eve party-goers and their cars free lifts home.
Between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m., the Tipsy Tow service will offer free tows up to seven miles.
Anyone can use the program by calling (800) 400-4AAA and saying, “I need a Tipsy Tow.”
“Tipsy Tow provides motorists with a safe ride home instead of a potentially dangerous drive while intoxicated,” said Wayne Nelson, the auto club’s Ventura district manager.
The free tows exclude passengers and are restricted to a one-way, one-time ride. Drivers can only be taken to their home.
The auto club estimates that 400 to 500 people statewide will be killed or injured in alcohol-related crashes during the New Year weekend.
