Federal agents used helicopters equipped with heat detectors to scan Smoky Mountain forests in their search for a man wanted for questioning in an Alabama abortion clinic bombing. The search for Eric Robert Rudolph, 31, sought as a material witness to the bombing, expanded nationwide after scores of federal and state agents scoured the woods in western North Carolina for three days without finding him. The public has been told not to approach Rudolph because of the violence of the crime.
