Haskins Suspended for One Game

Texas El Paso Coach Don Haskins was suspended for one game by the Western Athletic Conference for publicly criticizing league officials.
A WAC spokesman said that Haskins will be barred from coaching or even sitting on the bench when the Miners play at Air Force on Thursday.
Associate commissioner Jeff Hurd said Haskins’ comments to the media after UTEP’s home loss to Wyoming on Saturday constituted a second violation of WAC rules, which automatically calls for a suspension. The first violation came Jan. 24 during a game against New Mexico when Haskins reportedly made contact with an official.
Haskins, who can appeal the ruling, could not be reached for comment.
