‘96 Bumper Crop Moving Forward

* Glenn Adriatico, Jr., WR, Burroughs: With quarterback J.K. Scott now at Washington, Adriatico saw his production dwindle. He was selected to The Times’ All-Valley second team after rushing 34 times for 184 yards and catching 46 passes for 695 yards.

* Waking Bailey, Sr., DB, Kennedy: Bailey fit right into the San Jose State offense, becoming the Spartans’ second-leading receiver with 34 catches for 380 yards. He also returned 11 kickoffs for 238 yards.

* Ricky Bednarek, Sr., OL, Notre Dame: Bednarek is attending San Diego State but did not play football. He has yet to decide if he will try out for the team this spring.

* Kevin Carlsen, Sr., WR, Canoga Park: Carlsen became a vital part of the high-powered Valley College offense, showing the speed that carried him to a region-high 18 touchdown receptions in 1996.

* Dante Clay, Sr., RB, North Hollywood: Academically ineligible for college football, Clay attended Trinity-Pawling School in New York, where he rushed for 1,350 yards and 11 touchdowns in eight games. The all-New England prep school selection has been contacted by USC, Syracuse and Memphis.

* Derrell Daniels, Sr., LB, Sylmar: Daniels was a reserve linebacker at Washington, recording seven unassisted tackles and one assisted tackle. He impressed Husky coaches enough to be considered for a starting spot next season.

* Will Demps, Sr., DB, Highland: A year after intercepting a region-high eight passes, Demps was a redshirt defensive back at San Diego State.

* Nick DiPadova, Sr., QB, Taft (Offensive player of the year): As a freshman walk-on at Brigham Young, DiPadova was one of eight quarterbacks but played well enough to be named the Cougars’ scout team player of the week in mid-October.

* Emmanuel Evans, Jr., P, Birmingham: The senior running back became a two-time All-Valley selection by rushing for 2,205 yards and 26 touchdowns in 250 carries. Evans led the Braves to the City Section 4-A Division playoffs.

* Justin Fargas, Jr., RB, Notre Dame: Fargas ran away with a second consecutive player of the year selection, leading the Knights to the Southern Section Division III title game and finishing his career with 6,293 rushing yards and 76 touchdowns.

* Jonathan Hicks, Jr., DL, North Hollywood: The two-way starter became a two-time All-Valley selection after leading his team in tackles and blocking four field goals.

* Todd Hourigan, Sr., LB, Hart: A year after recording 125 tackles for the Indians, Hourigan was a redshirt linebacker at Utah.

* Greg Hulett, Sr., OL, El Camino Real: Hulett started every game at offensive tackle for Valley College and was an all-Western State Conference Southern Division selection.

* Cody Joyce, Sr., WR, Hart: The former Indian receiver, who had 67 receptions for 1,067 yards in 1996, was a redshirt freshman at UCLA.

* Aaron Lewis, Sr., WR, Kennedy: The Moorpark College freshman was selected Western State Conference all-purpose player of the week in late October after amassing 242 total yards in a 38-17 victory over Ventura.

* Donte Morgan, Sr., LB, Taft: Morgan continued his stellar defensive play at Valley College, where he joined Hulett as an all-Western State Conference Southern Division selection.

* Vincent Sandoval, Sr., OL, Palmdale: A three-year starter for the Falcons, Sandoval was a redshirt offensive lineman at Oregon State.

* J.K. Scott, Sr., QB, Burroughs: A year after leading the Indians to the playoffs with 3,013 passing yards, Scott was the No. 3 quarterback at Washington but did not play and ultimately used a redshirt season.

* Kevin Stromsborg, Sr., DL, Notre Dame: Stromsborg joined cousin Danny Farmer at UCLA, where he was a redshirt lineman.

* Jacob Waasdorp, Sr., DL, Quartz Hill: A reserve defensive tackle at California, Waasdorp played in almost every game for the Golden Bears, recording two tackles and a six-yard sack.

* Tony Walker, Sr., DB, Antelope Valley (Defensive player of the year): Walker was ineligible to play college football last season but is attending Utah State in hopes of earning the grades to qualify.

* Mike Wambolt, Sr., OL, Hart: The two-time All-Valley offensive lineman was a redshirt center at Colorado.

* Nick Yerton, Sr., OL, Crescenta Valley: The 1996 Pacific League offensive lineman of the year was a redshirt tackle at Northern Arizona.
