The Irvine Chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society is inviting men interested in singing four-part a capella harmony to its annual Guest and Alumni Night on Tuesday from 7-10 p.m. at the Lakeview Community Center, Alton Parkway and Lake Road, Irvine. The group is seeking new members for its California Promise Chorus, but visitors can try their hand at quartet singing as well. No experience is necessary. Break-time entertainment will be provided by Gotcha, a quartet that placed second in the society’s Far West District contest in October. After the meeting, the group will gather at a pizza parlor for singing and socializing. Information: (714) 968-1222.
A scheduling conflict has forced Indian sitarist Ravi Shankar to change his upcoming appearance to May 31 (from May 14) at 7:30 p.m. at the Orange County Performing Arts Center. The concert is being presented by the Philharmonic Society of Orange County. (714) 553-2422.
