An 83-year-old woman was seriously injured Monday in a car accident at San Miguel and Port Sutton drives in Newport Beach.
Frances Schachner of Corona del Mar was flown from the scene to Western Medical Center, where she remained in serious condition late Monday.
Police said Schachner suffered arm fractures when she was broadsided about 2:15 p.m. by a car driven by a 55-year-old Irvine man. The man, who suffered minor injuries, was driving north on San Miguel Drive when he collided with Schachner, who was traveling west on Port Sutton Drive, police said.
Newport Beach Police Investigator Howard Eisenberg said both drivers were wearing seat belts and neither was cited. The crash remains under investigation, he said.
