Ex-Trustee Named to School Board Again

Susan Preus will once again serve on the Anaheim City School District Board of Education.
Preus, a 42-year-old homemaker and former teacher, was appointed to the board in 1996 but failed to win election to the seat later that same year.
This time, she replaces Harald G. Martin, who resigned in December after being questioned about serving on two school boards.
Trustee Christopher B. Whorton said he nominated Preus because of her willingness to keep involved in district issues. Trustee Todd E. Kaudy cast the lone vote against the appointment, saying the board should have held a special election to fill the seat.
Preus, a longtime parent volunteer, is co-chairwoman of Yes for Children, a committee backing a $48-million bond measure on April’s ballot that would help build classrooms in the overcrowded district.
