City Planning Commission Chairman Tom Hasse has announced his candidacy for City Council, bringing the field to three.
Incumbent Jeff Jennings, who is the mayor, and Planning Commissioner Harry Barovsky, have also announced that they will run in the April race.
Hasse said that the most important issues facing the new council will be creation of a specific plan for Malibu’s Civic Center, land use and development issues and improving communication with citizens during emergencies.
Hasse was appointed to his current position in 1995 by former Malibu Mayor Jeff Kramer, who will serve as his campaign chairman.
A 13-year Malibu resident, Hasse is chairman of the city’s Mobile Home Park Rent Stabilization Commission and is a member of the Malibu Business Roundtable.
