Marinovich Jailed for Sentencing Violation

SANTA ANA — Former Los Angeles Raiders quarterback Todd Marinovich was taken into custody on Friday at Municipal Court in Laguna Niguel after he failed to find a jail or drug program near his new home in Sonoma County.
He’ll spend Super Bowl Sunday in Orange County Jail.
Marinovich pleaded guilty in September to a felony charge of cultivating marijuana and a misdemeanor charge of possessing prescription drugs not in his name.
He was to have reported to jail by November, but had requested and received delays to find a privately run jail in Sonoma County.
Marinovich was arrested March 24 at his Dana Point home after calling 911 to report that a friend was unconscious. Paramedics took the man to the hospital, where he was treated for a drug overdose.
Sheriff’s deputies looking around the home found medication for which Marinovich had no prescription, a small bag of marijuana, a marijuana plant and a syringe, authorities said.
