A 75-year-old woman was found stabbed to death in her home after what appears to be a robbery, authorities said Thursday.
Onita Theus was discovered dead in her East Calaveras Street home of multiple stab wounds about 9 p.m. Wednesday, Sheriff’s Deputy Mark Bailey said.
“She was last seen alive by her caretakers when they left her home at approximately 9 a.m. [Wednesday],” Bailey said.
“At approximately 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, neighbors heard a scream coming from her residence,” Bailey said. “They disregarded the noise, because they thought that she was being cared for at the time.”
Then shortly before 9 p.m., her overnight caretakers returned, but the lights were off and no one answered the door, Bailey said.
They called the Sheriff’s Department and deputies from the Altadena substation responded, entered the home and discovered Theus’ body.
