Police Offer Tips for Bicycle Safety

A recent increase in bicycle-related accidents is prompting the Simi Valley Police Department to ask cyclists to be more safety conscious.
Police report that most accidents are caused by bikers riding on the wrong side of the road. Cyclists must ride in the same direction as car traffic.
Those under 18 are required by law to wear helmets, and police encourage all bike riders to wear them.
Proper clothing and lighting equipment for bikes are also a necessity for night riding.
