Pimco Advisors Holdings L.P.: The Newport Beach investment management company reported record second-quarter earnings of $19.4 million, or 39 cents a unit, 28% higher than the estimated $15.2 million, or 32 cents a unit, profit recorded in the year-earlier period. For the first six months, net income showed a 29% gain from the 1997 first half, to $35.9 million, or 73 cents a unit, from $27.9 million, or 59 cents a unit. The 1997 results take into account last November’s acquisition of Oppenheimer Capital.
