Local Firms Urging Workers to Carpool

Ventura County companies are using incentives such as free ice cream to encourage their employees to carpool during Rideshare Week in Southern California, which started Monday.
Local GTE offices are providing free T-shirts and Baskin-Robbins ice cream coupons to encourage employees to carpool.
According to Terry Flores, coordinator of the Rideshare program for GTE, while the numbers are higher for Rideshare Week participation in offices such as Thousand Oaks and Newbury Park, employees in Camarillo have organized car-pooling despite more scattered work schedules.
“They’re going very well,” Flores said. “We do have some pretty loyal participants.”
