After more than two months of public hearings, the Planning Commission may make a decision today about zoning changes for the proposed redevelopment of the Gateway area. Redevelopment of the 300-acre commercial area is needed to make it consistent with the General Plan, city officials have said. The proposed amendment allows for greater leniency in zoning codes in the area, bounded on the east by Interstate 5, on the west and north by the San Joaquin Hills Transportation Corridor and Cabot Road, and city limits on the south. The commission meets at 7 p.m. in City Council chambers, 27841 La Paz Road. Information: (949) 362-4360.
