Gallegly to Honor Academic Champs

Rep. Elton Gallegly (R-Simi Valley) will honor Moorpark High School’s national Academic Decathlon champs today at the campus.
The eight-member squad defeated 38 teams to win the national competition Sunday, becoming the first Ventura County school to take the top prize.
The team scored 50,225 out of 60,000 possible points in the two-day scholastic contest last weekend in Anaheim.
In addition to being the highest-scoring team in the country, Moorpark decathletes won dozens of individual medals and thousands of dollars in scholarship money.
Gallegly will present the students with copies of the Congressional Record of the 106th Congress, in which he praised their hard work and accomplishment.
