SUN VALLEY — An 18-month-old girl was critically injured Friday afternoon when she fell from a third-floor balcony at an apartment complex, a Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman said.
The child was listed in critical condition Friday night at Childrens Hospital of Los Angeles, said hospital spokesman Steve Rutledge. The girl, whose name was withheld, was breathing with the help of a respirator and undergoing tests for a possible skull fracture, he said.
The toddler tumbled from the apartment balcony at 7655 Lankershim Blvd. about 5:30 p.m., according to Bob Collis of the Los Angeles Fire Department. A neighbor called for help, he said. Collis had no details on the circumstances of the fall, but said, “Obviously an 18-month-old should not be out [alone] on a third-floor balcony.”
