U.S. Rep. Ed Royce (R-Fullerton) will host a town hall meeting in City Council chambers Dec. 9. The lawmaker is expected to give a rundown on what has been going on in Congress this past year, touching on such issues as the balanced budget, the national debt and the status of Social Security.
After his speech, the congressman is expected to field questions from the audience, according to his spokesman, Brian Wilkes. In Congress since 1992, Royce has focused on issues of protecting crime victims and stemming illegal immigration. He also advocates reforming the federal tax code.
Earlier this year, Royce, who heads the House International Relations subcommittee on Africa, helped marshal support for legislation that would strengthen trade with Africa. The controversial bill was passed in the House and Senate but will undergo some minor changes before it goes before President Clinton to sign.
The meeting will begin at 7 p.m., 6650 Beach Blvd.
