LOS ANGELES — A woman and two children on their way to school in Southwest Los Angeles were struck and critically injured Friday by a hit-and-run driver.
Police are looking for the driver of a gray Datsun who struck Silvia Gregory, 29, her 9-year-old son, Hector Gregory, and an 8-year-old friend, Felix Rios.
The three were crossing at Adams Boulevard and St. James Place on their way to Northwood Elementary School at 7:44 a.m. when they were struck, said LAPD press officer Jason Lee.
Witnesses told police they saw two vehicles apparently chasing each other at about 60 mph eastbound on Adams Boulevard.
The first vehicle, a green Honda, passed near the victims without hitting them, police said. The second vehicle, which police describe as a gray Datsun, struck all three.
Both vehicles sped north on St. James Place, said LAPD South Traffic Division Det. Bill Whittaker.
“Some witnesses tried to follow the suspects, but all we could get was limited information,” Lee said.
Gregory and the two boys all suffered head trauma and were in critical condition at County-USC Medical Center, police said.
