* Mystery author luncheon: “The Mysterious World of Mystery Writers,” an author luncheon sponsored by Women of Orange County, will be held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Four Seasons Hotel, 690 Newport Center Drive, Newport Beach. Scheduled to discuss their work are Jan Burke (“Bones”), Barbara Seranella (“No Human Involved”), Elizabeth Cosin (“Zen and the Art of Murder”) and Paula L. Woods (“Inner City Blues”). * The Ear: Submissions are being accepted for the Ear, a community journal produced each spring by the School of Humanities and Language at Irvine College. The journal showcases the nonfiction, fiction, poetry and art of people who live, work or attend school in Orange County. Deadline is Dec. 15.
