Huntington Beach Wins in OT

Christine Kimoto sank a 15-footer with 30 seconds left in overtime to give Huntington Beach a 49-47 victory over South Torrance in the first round of the Troy/Kennedy tournament Monday at Troy High.
The Oilers (1-0) led at the end of the third quarter, 32-22, but South Torrance outscored Huntington Beach, 19-9, to tie the score, 41-41, and force overtime.
Kimoto finished with 12 points, including three, three-pointers and teammate Amy Sanders had 22.
Jamie Hagiya scored 23 for South Torrance (0-1).
In other first-round games:
Capistrano Valley 57, Bell Gardens 42--Nicki Howard scored nine of her 20 points in the third quarter as Capistrano Valley (3-2) outscored Bell Gardens, 19-9, to take a 22-point lead.
Corona del Mar 45, Magnolia 38--Kristen McCoy led Corona del Mar (2-0) with 13 points and Armida Galvez scored 19 for host Magnolia (2-1).
Garden Grove 53, La Habra 35--Gloria Rojas scored nine of her 25 points in the third quarter as Garden Grove outscored La Habra, 20-8, to take a 18-point lead. Kyung Cho contributed six steals for the Argonauts (1-1).
Katella 40, Orange 32--Julie Hoces scored 15 points and Lorena Huerta had 10 for Katella (1-2).
Kennedy 62, Buena Park 18--Lauren Shinto scored 14 for host Kennedy (3-0). Buena Park is 0-3.
Loara 53, Western 47--Sandra Sanchez scored 17 points, Vivi Main had 15 and Ashley Jockheck had 13 points and 12 rebounds for Loara (5-1), which outscored Western, 22-4, in the second quarter to take a 20-point halftime lead in the first-round game.
Troy 93, Los Alamitos 24--Veronica Johns-Richardson scored 11 of her 31 points in the opening quarter and Katie Hardeman scored 17.
In the Brea Olinda tournament:
Brea Olinda 88, Mission Viejo 30--Jackie Lord scored 19 points and Chelsea Trotter had 18 points, nine rebounds and four steals for Brea Olinda (5-0), which will play Diamond Bar in the second round today.
In the Gary Raya tournament:
Canyon 37, La Mirada 30--Lisa Smith scored nine for La Mirada (1-1), and Marcella Serrano scored a game high 10 points for host Canyon (1-1).
In the Fountain Valley tournament:
Woodbridge 55, Westminster 53--Bryn Riley scored 17 of her 26 points in the fourth quarter to help the Warriors (2-2). Diana Hernandez, who had six, three-pointers, finished with 26 points for Westminster.
In nonleague boys’ soccer:
Estancia 7, Saddleback 0--Defender Omar Navarrete scored three goals and Esaul Mendoza and Cesar Terrones had two goals each for Estancia.
Foothill 4, Aliso Niguel 4--Aliso Niguel (1-1-2) took a 3-1 lead in the second half, but Foothill rallied to tie. Brockton Schermerhorn then gave the Wolverines a 4-3 lead with about five minutes remaining, but Juan Enriques tied the score for visiting Foothill (1-1-1) with less than a minute remaining.
Los Amigos 1, Ocean View 0--Aban Garcia, with an assist by Nestor Castillo, scored in the 65th minute.
Servite 2, Sonora 1--Matt Kubota’s goal at the 75th minute gave Servite the victory. Kubota also assisted on Robert Vallejo’s goal in the first minute. Goalie James Towers made a crucial save for the Friars (3-1), blocking a penalty kick in the 80th minute. Daniel Saipian scored for host Sonora (2-1).
Santa Ana 2, Loara 1--Luis Delgado scored for host Loara (1-1) and Diego Mejia and Jose Moriera each scored for Santa Ana (2-1).

Woodbridge 1, Costa Mesa 0--Nick Holt scored for Woodbridge (2-1) in the 36th minute.
Sunny Hills 3, Norwalk John Glenn 2--Juan Quezada scored the deciding goal from 18 yards out at the 54th minute for Sunny Hills (1-1-1).
In nonleague girls’ soccer:
Costa Mesa 2, Irvine 0--Julie Kroening scored 30 seconds into the game and Costa Mesa benefited from an own goal later in the first half to improve to 2-0-1.
Garden Grove 3, Estancia 1--Erin Griswold scored one goal in the first half and two in the second and Mattey Morton and Jessica Hull assisted on two of Griswold’s scores for Garden Grove (3-0).
Mater Dei 3, Fountain Valley 1--Nadia Gomez, Kali Felts and Nicole Rothwell scored for Mater Dei (2-0).
Rosary 5, Calvary Chapel 0--Lisa Fryer scored twice for host Rosary (2-2). Calvary Chapel falls to 2-1.
In the Magnolia girls’ water polo tournament:
Valencia 12, Victor Valley 6--Vanessa Perstak scored eight goals for Valencia (1-0).
