Claremont Officers

Re “Officers in Claremont Killing Win New Award,” Dec. 21: Let me make sure I’ve got this right. A black motorist is pulled over for a traffic violation and, according to the police, pulls a .45 from his waistband and fires it at two officers, who return fire, killing him. Subsequently, it is determined that the gun was registered to a deceased police chief of a neighboring town and had, in fact, never been fired.

Perhaps the good people of Claremont should have Irvin Landrum Jr.’s corpse exhumed, stuffed and mounted so that they can present it, along with all the cash prizes and awards, to the two officers who murdered him.
