A Los Alamitos High School senior is earning Christmas money in an unusual way: He is spending part of his winter break in Denver, working at his flight instructor’s charter company washing planes, detailing them and doing other odd jobs.
Kevin Gustafson, 17, began taking flying lessons four years ago and has always worked in exchange for his instruction. He gained some media attention in 1988 when he flew cross-country solo and again last summer, when the Seal Beach resident took his parents as passengers.
He will be home in time for Christmas, however, arms laden with gifts for his family.
