The city will honor Olympic medalists from Mission Viejo in a special plaza at Florence Joyner Olympiad Park, which is being built on Olympiad Road and Alicia Parkway.
The plaza will be dedicated to the Olympians and the bicyclists who engaged in competitions in the city during the 1984 Olympic Games.
Olympic medalists who were born in Mission Viejo, who reside there now or who listed the city as their hometown during the Olympics are encouraged to contact the city’s Recreation and Community Services Department for an application.
The applications are due by Jan. 28, and the city plans to honor all the athletes at a dedication ceremony in May.
