Mackey’s 21 Points Lead UC Irvine

Chelsea Mackey scored 21 points and Megan Stafford had 12 points and 12 assists to help host UC Irvine defeat Cal State Fullerton, 71-52, in a Big West Conference women’s basketball game Sunday.

Natascha Stokely had 12 points and 13 rebounds for Fullerton (3-19, 1-10 in conference). Irvine is 10-12, 6-5.

At the Jack Rose Long Beach relays track and field meet:

Doty wins triple jump--Cal State Fullerton’s Anna Doty won the women’s triple jump (37 feet 6 inches) and Concordia’s Tricia Mattson won the women’s 1,500 meters (4 minutes 57.76 seconds). UC Irvine’s Santosh Swamidass won the men’s high jump (6-8).

In Pacific-10 Conference wrestling:

CS Fullerton 22, Stanford 18--Steve Duran won his 165-pound match, 6-5, on riding time, to help preserve the first dual-meet victory of the season for host Fullerton (1-6-1, 1-3).
