The “Don’t Provide” Tobacco Task Force has won its first battle against teenage smoking in the city. The manager of Kmart, 1000 W. Imperial Highway, has agreed to move self-serve cigarette racks beginning today, after a request from the task force.
Members had noticed that the unsupervised racks were within arm’s reach of the store’s arcade, and teenagers could easily grab a pack, said Mindy Murachver, community organizer of the task force, part of the YMCA Communities in Prevention-North.
The task force is made up of La Habra teachers, police officers, residents and teenagers. Information: (714) 446-1267.
