Cal Holds On Against DePaul

This time Cal got the close victory. And the Golden Bears are moving to the third round of the National Invitation Tournament after overcoming a 17-point deficit and edging DePaul, 58-57, Tuesday night in Rosemont, Ill.
Francisco Elson hit a go-ahead basket with 2:11 to go and Cal survived a miss at the buzzer by DePaul’s Willie Coleman.
Cal (19-11) avenged a three-point loss to DePaul (18-13) in November.
In other NIT second-round action, Ceedric Goodwyn scored 21 points and Colorado State (19-10) shot a season-high 56% in an 86-76 victory over Colorado (18-15) in Fort Collins. . . . Harold Jamison had 12 points, 15 rebounds and capped a late 10-2 run that led Clemson (18-14) to a 78-68 victory over Rutgers (19-13) at Piscataway, N.J.
