Casa Pacifica Meets National Standards

After months of study and evaluation, Casa Pacifica has received national accreditation, according to Steven Elson, executive director.
The Council on Accreditation of Services for Families and Children Inc. determined that Casa Pacifica meets the highest standards, conducts operations safely and manages funds effectively. Accreditation reviewers examined personnel, safety and programs at Casa Pacifica during a three-day visit. Casa Pacifica had previously conducted a nine-month self-evaluation.
Casa Pacifica provides shelter and treatment for abused, abandoned and neglected children in Ventura County. The private nonprofit organization serves more than 350 children annually.
Two years ago, the state Department of Social Services investigated the facility and nearly revoked its license after a 9-year-old sexually assaulted a toddler. After the investigation, Casa Pacifica appointed new managers, segregated boys and girls and provided additional staff training.
Based in New York, the council accredits approximately 1,000 behavioral health care programs and 3,000 social service programs in the Unites States and Canada.
