FOUNTAIN VALLEY

The Municipal Water District of Orange County, based in Fountain Valley, filed documents with the State Water Resources Control Board on Monday to ensure that a proposed transfer of Colorado River water is done in a way that will not adversely affect Orange County water rights or water rates. The Coastal Municipal Water District also filed similar documents.

The two water districts have rights to Colorado River water through their membership in the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California.

The filing is a procedural requirement in order to voice concerns with the state.

“Our concern is for the ratepayers of Orange County and for water rights held in trust for them,” said H.E. “Bill” Hartge, vice president of the Municipal Water District of Orange County.
