Honeywell to Sell Automotive Businesses

Honeywell International Inc. said it plans to sell its consumer automotive products businesses, including Prestone antifreeze and Autolite spark plugs, to focus on sales of aerospace parts and automated controls. Honeywell, based in Morris Township, N.J., said it hired Salomon Smith Barney Inc. to help it find a buyer for the businesses, which also include Fram oil and air filters for cars and trucks and Holts car-care products. The businesses had $1.1 billion in sales last year. Honeywell shares closed up $1.88 at $40 on the NYSE, before the announcement was made.
