Crews Stage a Mock Ocean Rescue
A multi-agency team conducted a mock ocean rescue Thursday involving a capsized board with 12 “victims” in the water.
Rescue personnel performed a search-and-rescue mission on the water, with some of the supposed victims unaccounted for and others unable to communicate with rescuers. The exercise was intended to provide ocean-based crisis training and teach interagency coordination.
The participants included the Ventura County Fire Department, Ventura City Fire Department, Ventura County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue, Ventura County Harbor Patrol, Santa Barbara County Fire Department, Los Angeles County lifeguards, U.S. Coast Guard and state lifeguards.
