Kinkoff’s Goal Earns Edison a Trip to Final

Junior midfielder Jeff Kinkoff’s goal from just outside the penalty box gave Edison a 1-0 victory over El Dorado in a Division II boys’ soccer semifinal Tuesday at Edison High School.
Edison’s defense had a strong game, led by seniors Billy Pena and Jeff Kunze and goalie Joey Balbas, who made three saves. Edison will play Mater Dei on Saturday.
In the other Division II semifinal:
Mater Dei 4, Riverside Poly 1--Kevin Novak scored the first and last goals as host Mater Dei (27-5-1) ousted previously unbeaten Poly. Eric Rolwing assisted on Novak first goal.
Goaltender Nate Pena, who registered six saves, was denied the shutout when Diego Inarte scored with one minute left for Poly (29-1).
