The Vietnam War Memorial Committee announced Wednesday that more than $200,000 has been raised for construction of its commemorative project. Committee Chairman Joey Nguyen said the amount is enough to pay for the proposed statue featuring figures of a former American and a South Vietnamese soldier. An additional $300,000 is needed to maintain a courtyard area and to place information kiosks. A groundbreaking ceremony is planned for April 29, marking the 25th anniversary of the fall of Saigon.
