A half-pound meteorite from Mars goes on display today at the Natural History Museum in downtown Los Angeles. It’s one of only 14 such meteorites on Earth, the museum says, and the only one known to have fallen in the United States.
The meteorite exhibit will be on display in the museum’s hall of gems and minerals through Aug. 13.
The museum is at 900 Exposition Blvd. in Exposition Park. Open daily 10 a.m.-5 p.m.
