Commercials Cause Case of the News Blues
The report “that broadcast and cable filled by commercials, public service announcements and network promotions rose to the highest level” is right on [“And Now More Words From Our Sponsors--TV ‘Clutter’ Rises,” March 2].
The most blatant examples are the news programs such as “CBS Evening Commercials With Dan Rather.” The news programs’ most prolific remarks are “. . . and we will present the complete story when we come back.” They are always “coming back” after two or more commercials.
The only way to avoid the frustration of waiting for them to “come back” is to watch the news on PBS.
