Peacekeepers

It is impossible for me to understand why the U.S. government does not support a permanent United Nations peacekeeping force. Instead, we are going to spend $40 million to help fund 5,500 U.N. troops to the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
A more effective solution would be a standing U.N. peacekeeping force that could be rapidly deployed. The men and women recruited from around the world could be trained for peacekeeping. The money needed would come out of the U.N. budget. Who, what and when would be irrelevant and all the red tape we go through now would not be needed.
