The Planning Commission tonight will consider a request from the Sycamore Business Park for a tree-removal permit to remove eucalyptus trees infected by the red gum lerp psyllid.
Pamela Spaulding, the center’s owner, said she spends $500 to $800 per month to clean up the sticky mess left by the insects.
A staff report recommends denying the request because the trees are an asset to the community. Instead, the city should pay for treatment and maintenance of the trees for the next two years until a cure is found.
The commission will meet at 7 p.m., 32400 Paseo Adelanto.
