In another Sea View League boys’ track meet:
Newport Harbor 76, Irvine 59--Trevor Jones won the 400 in a county-leading 49.8 for Newport Harbor (2-0, 1-0). Jones also won the 200 (22.7) and 110 hurdles (15.2) and anchored the Sailors’ winning 1,600 relay team, which ran a season-best 3:27.6.
In the Empire League:
Katella 105, El Dorado 26--Katella’s Kenny Vinh, the county leader in the 110 hurdles (14.78), tied for first with teammate Long Duong (15.0). Vinh also won the 300 hurdles (42.1) for the Knights.
Kennedy 82, Loara 42--Kelvin Beatty won the 100 (11.1) and 200 (22.5) for Kennedy.
In the Serra League:
Santa Margarita 77.5, Bellflower St. John Bosco 59.5--Pat Luke cleared a personal-best 15-2 in the pole vault, the second-best mark in the county this season, for Santa Margarita.
In Pacific Coast League girls’ track and field:
Corona Del Mar 105, Laguna Beach 30--Liz Morse posted county-best times in the 400 and 800 meters. She ran the 400 in 56.4 and the 800 in 2:18.9, with only 15 minutes between races, Sea King Coach Bill Sumner said.
In the Sea View League:
Newport Harbor 92, Irvine 43--April Ross won the high jump (5-2), long jump (16-0) and triple jump (35-2 1/2) for the Sailors (2-0, 1-0).
Amy Burlingham (100, 200), Amber Steen (800, 3,200) and Krista Dill (shotput, discus) also won two events each for the Sailors.
Woodbridge 100, Laguna Hills 36--Woodbridge freshman Michelle Sanford broke the track record in the long jump with a mark of 18-2 1/2. Sanford also won the 100 (12.6) and triple jump (37-1 1/4) and anchored the Warriors’ winning 400 relay (51.7).
In the South Coast League:
Mission Viejo 94 1/2, Dana Hills 41 1/2--Mission Viejo’s Dana Bethel’s time of 15.2 in the 100 hurdles was a county best. Bethel also won the long jump with a leap of 17-2, the third-best jump in the county, and the high jump (5-2).
Kendal Billingsley also won three events for Mission Viejo, taking the 200 (27.8), 400 (1:02) and 1,600 (5:38).
In the Sunset League:
Esperanza 87.5, Los Alamitos 46.5--Sophomore Ashley Parrish won the discus with a throw of 127-8, the third-best mark in the county this season.
