Residents of the Meadows Mobile Home Park rallied Thursday around a pilot program to help reduce utility bills. The Regional Energy Efficiency Initiative aims to conserve energy for homes and small businesses. Irvine has joined Santa Monica, Southern California Edison and the California Energy Coalition in the 2 1/2-year project. As much as $5.2 million is available through the Public Utilities Commission, with $20,000 set aside for Irvine. Residents and businesses pay into this PUC fund as part of their monthly electric bills.
