For the first time, the school district is mapping out its goals and priorities before planning the annual budget.
The goal-setting process defines how the district plans to accomplish everything from ensuring students’ basic skills of reading, writing, mathematics and science to how to reduce the number of school bus accidents.
Historically, the Newport-Mesa Unified School District has its goal-setting sessions in the fall, after the budget has been finished.
A tentative budget is due at the end of June, with the final budget due at the beginning of the school year.
