Assailant Sought in Teen’s Fatal Shooting

Police searched Monday for the person who fatally shot a Lancaster 19-year-old late Sunday, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s investigators said.
The victim, identified as Timothy Jackson, died at an area hospital after being shot in the 2300 block of West Avenue J-8, Sheriff’s Sgt. Ronald Fernstrom said.
Investigators arrived at the scene about 9:30 p.m. Sunday to find the victim on the ground with gunshot wounds in his upper body, officials said.
Witnesses told investigators they saw a man flee the area in a maroon car.
Officials were not sure what led to the shooting and asked witnesses to call the Sheriff’s Homicide Division at (818) 890-5500 if they have additional information.
