Re “Battle Likely Over Teacher Seniority in L.A.,” March 28: The “likely” battle is not confined to teacher seniority; also included would be benefit cuts, meager raises, “merit” pay and a long list of nonmonetary measures which LAUSD teachers find punitive. Howard Miller states, “The rationale is that students come first.” Teachers have always put students first. Why does Miller feel that if students come first, teachers must come last?
