An advisory committee of political and religious leaders from the Vietnamese community in Southern California is scheduled to meet with members of the Vietnam War Memorial Committee on May 8.
The formation of an advisory group is an effort to broaden community representation while fund-raising continues, said memorial committee member Craig Mandeville.
The privately funded committee, led by Mayor Frank Fry Jr., has a goal of $500,000 by the end of May. Although a site has not been selected, the committee is hoping to begin construction of the memorial in September.
