Susanna Lingman
Woodbridge, Tennis
Upset top-seeded Iris Ichim in the girls’ 18s quarterfinals at the Ojai Valley tennis tournament Friday.
Lingman, a junior, had a surprisingly easy match against the 14-year-old Romanian who lives in Beverly Hills, winning, 6-4, 6-1. Lingman then lost to Saddleback’s Kim Nguyen the following day in the semifinals, 6-2, 6-0. Nguyen, a two-time Times’ Orange County player of the year, lost to Ojai’s Erin Burdette in the finals, 6-1, 6-1.

Threw a shutout against seventh-ranked Los Alamitos and scored the winning run in 1-0 victory for No. 3 Marina.

Dana Hills, Softball
Threw first no-hitter in 5-0 victory over Mission Viejo. Sophomore has given up two earned runs in last 27 innings.
Joseph Kao
Sunny Hills, Tennis
Advanced to the semifinals of boys’ interscholastic singles at the Ojai Valley tennis tournament Saturday, where he lost to Paul Warkentin of San Marcos, 6-2, 1-6, 6-3. The Stanford-bound senior won his quarterfinal match in dramatic fashion Friday. Kao slammed a forehand down the line to defeat Burbank’s Tigran Martiroysan, 7-5, 7-5, then fell to the ground with a cramp in his right quadriceps.

Hit a home run for 2-1 win over Marina Wednesday and a two-run homer in 3-1 victory over Marina Saturday.

Esperanza, Track and Field
Increased his state-leading mark in the discus by two inches with a throw of 197-10 in a dual meet at Fountain Valley.
