DEARBORN, Mich. — The Detroit area Muslim community is spending about $8 million to build a high school to teach its children about Islamic heritage and traditions.
The American Islamic High School, slated to open this fall, will teach conservative Middle Eastern culture along with core curriculum classes, said Ahmad Moussa, a board member for the Islamic Institute of Knowledge, which is planning and financing the high school.
Nearly 750 students are expected to enroll in the high school, where tuition will range from $3,000 to $3,600.
