Canyons Wins State Golf Title Behind Mayte

College of the Canyons won the Community College State golf title Monday, shooting team scores of 366-373--739 at Glendora Country Club.
Travis Mayte shot 72-74--146 to lead Canyons and finish second among individuals. Jeff Greenfield of Huntington Beach Golden West (76-68--144) was the individual champion.
Pat Kelly and Matias Gil each shot 147 for Canyons, which also won the state title in 1993.
The Cougars were 59-1 in Western State Conference matches this season and finished second to Long Beach City in the Southern California Regional tournament last week.
Long Beach (758) finished second and Saddleback (765) was third.
