The city will prepare a study on restricting parking on Caracas Street and establishing a public hearing date on the issue at its next meeting May 23.
The City Council on Tuesday authorized staff to conduct the study.
The action comes in response to a petition filed by residents of Caracas Street who want to have the street included in the Acapulco Preferential Parking District.
Because of the overflow parking from students at Dana Hills High School, the district was created last year to limit parking in the area to residents and their guests during certain hours. Permits are required for residents and guests.
The addition would also include a small portion of Antilles Street and Questa Way.
