Celia I. Stafford; 85-Year County Resident

Celia Irene Stafford, a Ventura homemaker, died Tuesday at her home after a long illness. She was 87.
She was born Dec. 11, 1912, in Mandan, N. D. When she was 2 years old, she moved with her family to Ventura, where she grew up and attended school.
In 1933, she married George Stafford and they raised their family.
Stafford was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Ventura. She also enjoyed playing bridge and working in her flower garden.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years in 1980.
She is survived by sons George of Cedar City, Utah, and Gary of Ventura; a sister, Katherine Aldrich of Ventura; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services are scheduled at 2 p.m. today at First Baptist Church of Ventura, with the Rev. John Gennaro officiating. Burial will follow at Ivy Lawn Memorial Park in Ventura.
Arrangements are under the direction of Ted Mayr Funeral Home in Ventura.
