Residents will have an opportunity to design the official city seal if the City Council approves a proposed contest at its Thursday meeting.
City staff has recommended the council ask residents of all ages to submit designs they believe represent the defining elements of the community. It will be used on official documents, municipal structures, uniforms and ceremonial banners.
The proposed contest would be divided into five categories: adults, college, high school, junior high and elementary school students. A winner would be chosen from each of the categories and a graphic artist would be hired by the city to incorporate elements from some or all of the winning designs in the final seal.
